I think he is sane and knows what he is doing. Even morr scarier.

Trumpy voice"I have a very good brain ....it's terrific...it really is... matter of fact it's the biggest and most terrific brain ever.. and with my brain and all of you we are gonna make America great again "

It doesn't take a degree in psychiatry to diagnose dt's mental illness. And facts prove him to be a compulsive and delusional liar. He obviously lacks even a modicum of impulse control.

A toddler, fully enveloped in the psychological dark clouds and dense fog of the "terrible twos" is in charge of the country.

But unlike a two year old, he's clearly not going to grow out of it.

18 ( +20 / -2 )

He's just alternatively sane.

22 ( +23 / -1 )

Imo the vast majority of ppl are 'slightly' insane and a substantial number complete nuttas.

Reckon DT is either in the 2nd group or very close. But that's the world we live in, liars, megalomaniacs, 'believers', proselytists etc are the norm.

Gearin' up to invoke the 25th Amendment.

That's the million dollar question, isn't it? Is Trump a senile old fool, or is he genuinely out to destabilize the country so he can orchestrate an authoritarian take-over?

Unfortunately, millions of innocent Americans can't afford to take the risk of guessing wrong on this. We need him out of office.

@katsu, You make a lot of generalized statements based on emotion and fact.

Al Franken is left winger, what do you expect him to say? Their new method to win is too look for attention.

-17 ( +2 / -19 )

Worked for trump

5 ( +6 / -1 )

He's not mentally ill or anything, everything he is doing is very deliberate. What his actual intentions are are the real question, not even Repubs know the answer to this

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

He says things that aren’t true. That’s the same as lying, I guess.

Damn. I love political reasoning. So insightful.

Al Franken is left winger, what do you expect him to say? Their new method to win is too look for attention.

It's worth paying attention to if GOP politicians are actually saying what he claims they are. Or do you think he's lying about that?

11 ( +12 / -1 )

I thought there would be some news about the missile fired from North Korea, but instead, it's just more about Trump and whether he has offended a liberal.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Question his mental health? Ya think so, Doctors? There's no putting anything past those guys...Truly a bunch of rocket surgeons if ever...

I suppose it is like saying the emperor is not wearing clothes when it is not politically expedient (different from correct) to do so. His sanity is truly the orange elephant in the room that a lot of the red elephants try and ignore in a party over country free fest....

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Never got around to naming the "colleagues" did he?

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

I think that DT is one of the most qualified people to ever become President of America. He has big hands, never tells lies (and so can be trusted), He takes time to think things through and then articulates his thoughts in 160 or less characters - come on, how many people could do that? Einstein took books to write simple facts. He has surrounded his Presidency with people of high character who have no other motive than to make America great again.

DT is going to transform the US into country where the LBGT, Mexicans, White Racists, Wall Street and people of colour will all embrace each other. And there will be no more wars. We are entering into an age where the size of your fingers will not reflect the size of any other part of your anatomy, but the ability to comfortably pick your nose in a refreshing and relaxing fashion. And this alone will make America Great Again!

The whole world is suffering from the DTs. We need a cure urgently.

PT - this is more in response to a different post in which you said:

I actually think Bannon and Kushner might be cunning enough to try something like that. Their histories as well as Trump's show they've played (pardon the metaphorical mash-up ahead) hardball with sharks and come out ahead. They're win at any costs people, each trying to power and money grab while Trump's in the oval office.

Trump purposely puts "win at any costs" people at odds with each other due to his concerns over his own power; authoritarians tend to keep their closest underlings at each others throats so as to protect their own position (think Kim Jong Un). A problem with this method is that those underlings now have a great incentive to burn their rivals; hence, the leaks. Trump's cabinet is a "Game of Thrones" scenario, but ironically, though Trump set this up to protect his position, it greatly weakens his power not simply due to leaks but due to the armor kinks it provides external enemies.

Article 25, 4th Clause states that, if a president's cabinet agrees that a president is for whatever reason unable to fulfill his duties, they may refer this matter to congress, which with a 2/3 vote may remove him regardless of any illegality. This is the way the GOP wants to go: "Hey - Trump wasn't a crook; he's just old" kind of excuse. To do so, though, they need a conniving cabinet. Those appointed by Trump owe their loyalty to him, but if the top guys in congress can pick them off one by one and replace them with others more of their liking, these replacements will owe their loyalty to the top guys in congress and will likely, when push comes to shove, do their bidding by replacing Trump with Pence.

Flynn will be the first to go. It will be amazing if he survives February. Who will be next, and who after that?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

No question about it. Trump has mental health issues.

@Laguna Trump purposely puts "win at any costs" people at odds with each other due to his concerns over his own power; authoritarians tend to keep their closest underlings at each others throats so as to protect their own position (think Kim Jong Un)

Re Trump, I do not know of another American president who has tried to get as much power for his office so early on in his presidency. You mentioned Kim, and I worry Trump might try to take a leadership approach similar to what I've read, Hitler, Stalin and Mao took. Each gave a degree of autonomy to their underlings. In doing that, if a problem occurred and was found out the finger could be pointed away (e.g. 'You're fired'). The underlings with authority constantly feuded with each other in attempts to grab even more power and wealth for themselves and the fiefdoms they controlled. I've read Putin takes a similar approach to overseeing his government underlings and his oligarchs; Xi's is also said to be similar.

The best hope for the US is that the constitutional system of checks and balances isn't weakened in any way. It's pretty scary that people want to cede power to a man who's thus far shown to be unstable (and over 70) and who's surrounded himself with people with voracious appetites for power and money. Fortunately it appears it's a minority of Americans who want that, probably the same minority that elected him. That means the majority must remain vigilant.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I share your concerns, PT - and that is precisely why the checks and balances inherent in the US system are so important now. "Why, the cheek of a judge, trying to interpret the law!" - if Trump gets away with an inch, he'll take a mile.

Must-read interview of Gary Kasparov, refugee from Azerbaijan to Russia and later Russia to the US, and also a pretty good chess player, regarding similarities between Trump and Putin's early days. Kasparov emphasizes that events are quite different but personalities are similar and thus require close scrutiny.

It's not mental health issues. It's the game plan. I mean, this one is easy. These guys want to completely doctor the constitution, eradicate Medicare, and eliminate any attachment the public has with the press. Or, if necessary, judges. So, it's purposeful disinformation to create a kind of psychic mandate in the masses. If necessary, eliminating the press as part of the equation. We have to be like the best defensive basketball player ever. We can't wait till the last five minutes to see the pattern. And we can't block the shots from the front. (never works in basketball anyway). We need to move around behind and knock that sucker out of his hands as soon as he raises the ball, without him knowing we're there. And that means seeing the end game strategy that Trump's team has already developed way before they got in. Not slowly realizing it over a period of years. We put a lot of our money in taxes to this government. Money was taken out for social security, and disability. Money was taken out for public education. Watch carefully as the process of skimming this fat cash begins. It's not about eliminating programs,...that's just the means. It's about stealing our money.

"questions about Trump’s truthfulness."

For crying out loud, Trump is the real deal, perhaps for the first time ever in the history of presidents, what you see and hear is what you get. Apparently some people haven't figured that out yet, lol.

Al Franken is the unstable one. He claims to be a "reformed Jew" which means he is too cheap to belong to a synagogue, but when he feels threatened he will throw out the code words: "anti-Semitism" and "holocaust."

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

It's about stealing our money.

You just now noticed? Where were you when Obama was passing out trillions in bailouts and subsidies to his pals on Wall Street and elsewhere? Now that the pot is almost empty, they bring in Trump so they can lay the blame on him when the house of cards tumbles down.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Franken cites Trump’s groundless claim that he would have won the popular vote in the presidential race if not for 3 million to 5 million immigrants in the country illegally voting for his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton.

62% of Trump fans think millions of illegal voters voted for Clinton.

Why does he spread lies? Because it works with his base. Trump has taught them to go ahead and believe whatever they want to believe. If you're an emotional snowflake and need to make up some BS story to cover for yourself, well then that's OK.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

An obnoxious egotist is not necessarily insane. Anyone who thinks he'll make a good president probably is, however. That's what happens after several years of exposure to Fox News and Murdoch-induced paranoia.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

@superlib Why does he spread lies?

Here's an interesting opinion from Russian-American journalist Masha Geffen:

Lying is the message. It’s not just that both Putin and Trump lie, it is that they lie in the same way and for the same purpose: blatantly, to assert power over truth itself.

Trump's a megalomaniac, he's narcissistically impaired, he's someone willing to do and say whatever it takes to ensure his power and control. He has no understanding of what 'truth' could mean.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

What are these falsehoods Trump is supposed to tell? His honest opinion about the election? Why do so many commenters here assume Franken's trustworthiness above that of President Trump and, presumably, of Franken's candidate for president, Hillary Clinton, above that of Donald Trump? Trump Tweets his views to everyone, he is very public and hides nothing -- yet no one has diagnosed him crazy before his run for the presidency. Psychiatry hasn't the stature -- the reliability -- to impugn this president. Look how it has been used to lock up critics of the state -- and now being used to discredit a president who has overthrown an abusive machine, overthrown, in fact, an organized crime mob that includes Soros Democrats and their war-crime allies the Neo-cons like Bush, McCain and Graham.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

"he is very public and hides nothing"

You mean apart from his tax returns?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

It was Trump mentality that got the GOP elected to govern.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

What are these falsehoods Trump is supposed to tell? His honest opinion about the election?

Illegal votes is not an opinion. It's either something that happened or didn't - aka fact. There is zero evidence that there were three million illegal votes in the election, yet that hasn't stopped Trump from speaking the lie.

Then the MSM picks it up and repeats what he said, which he then shows the MSM articles and uses them as proof that what he said was true. It's circular lie-gic. Not logic, lie-gic.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I think we can all agree that Trump has an issue with telling the truth. It's not really a left or right issue. Some people go along with him because it helps them, but that's about the only line there is.

For crying out loud, Trump is the real deal, perhaps for the first time ever in the history of presidents, what you see and hear is what you get.

Right, he looks and sounds like a grotesque, demented buffoon, which is exactly what he is.

Apparently some people haven't figured that out yet, lol.

No one's ever pointed out to you that it's gauche to laugh at your own... um, "jokes?"

Narcisistic Personality Disorder, that's what he's got. That excuses him, but nothing excuses the morons that voted for him.

Basically anyone who thinks differently from a group of people will be termed a nutter by the members of that group ("How come they dare to deviate? Let's ridicule them."), so that is no wonder. Nothing new here.
